9:06pm: Yamamoto could make his decision within the next 48 hours, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. 7:55pm: MLB.coms Jon Morosi that Yamamoto has at least one offer of $300MM or more in hand. 6:59pm: The Giants have been informed theyre out of the running for , reports Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area ( ). While theres no indication that Yamamoto has made his final decision, Pavlovic adds the Giants expect hell sign with the Dodgers or one of the New York clubs. Andy Martino of SNY that the Mets have not received any indication theyre out of the running. Thats also true of the Yankees, according https://www.nationalsday.com/washington-nationals-jersey/kyle-finnegan-jersey to Jon Heyman of the New York Post ( ). Heyman indicates the Yankees have put a significant bid on the table. Cro sing San Francisco off the list technically leaves six known finalists. In addition to the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees, the Blue Jays, Phillies and Red Sox have been involved. Philadelphia has this week. That said, reports have cast the Phils, Jays, and (to a le ser extent) the Sox as longer shots. Yamamoto has been weighing offers throughout the week. While he technically has until the evening of January 4 to sign, the expectation is that he wont take things to the wire. That his camp is now in the proce s of whittling the field lends credence to the idea that a decision might not be far off. The bidding seems as if itll surpa s $250MM, before accounting for a posting fee owed to the Orix Buffaloes that could tack on another $45-50MM. That fee is in proportion to the contract size, calculated as 20% of the deals first $25MM, 17.5% of the next $25MM, and 15% of additional spending. That reflects Yamamotos atypical youth for a free agent pitcher (25) and his sheer dominance in Japan. Named NPBs best pitcher three years running, hes coming off a 1.21 ERA while striking out nearly 27% of opponents in 164 innings. Its a tough blow for the Giants, who come up short on another top-tier free agent. The Giants have mi sed on pursuits of , and within the past two offseasons alone, while their deal with fell through because of the physical. Yamamoto will join that list. San Francisco did land KBO star on a six-year, $113MM pact the largest deal of Farhan Zaidis tenure as baseball operations president but they havent gotten a truly elite free agent in some time. San Francisco still has plenty of spending capacity as they decide on their next steps. projects their 2024 spending around $158MM. Thats about $30MM below this years Opening Day figure. From a luxury tax perspective, theyre almost $45MM south of the base threshold. That opens the po sibility for a run at any of the top remaining free agent talents. and headline the rotation cla s, while was on the radar earlier in the offseason. So was the top available hitter, , although the Lee signing seems to rule out a pursuit of another lefty-swinging center fielder. https://www.nationalsday.com/washington-nationals-jersey/harold-ramirez-jersey https://ferrellryan.tkzblog.com/38044012/red-sox-place-hunter-dobbins-on-15-day-injured-list https://jbrown.blogpayz.com/38549148/pete-alonsos-clutch-blast-sends-mets-to-nlds-in-game-3-wild-card-thriller https://christyburke.blognody.com/44067538/the-hot-start-of-trevor-williams-raises-interesting-questions

Luis Severino stayed healthy, but do the Mets trust what they saw last season enough to extend the relationship for potentially the next four or five years? The right-hander on Tuesday rejected the clubs qualifying offer worth $21.05 million for next season, crystalizing that any return to Queens for Severino will come on a multiyear deal. Pete Alonso and Sean Manaea also rejected qualifying offers from the Mets, who will receive draft-pick compensation for each, if any, of the players that sign elsewhere. Former Mets pitcher Luis Severino declined the teams qualifying offer. JASON SZENES/NEW YORK POST Alonso and Manaea were near guarantees from the start to reject the qualifying offer, but there may have been le s certainty with the 30-year-old Severino, given the po sibility he could have accepted a higher than market value 2025 salary and looked to parlay that into a multiyear deal next offseason. Explore More See Also Even so, its likely Severino who is viewed within the industry as a No. 2 or 3 starter for a playoff-caliber team will receive at least four years with his next contract and the risk in accepting the qualifying offer would have been an injury-plagued season diminishing his free-agent value next winter. The top end of this market for starting pitchers includes Corbin Burnes, Blake Snell and Max Fried. The next tier includes Manaea and Severino, who combined to give the Mets a formidable 1-2 punch last season. https://www.oriolesday.com/baltimore-orioles-jersey/mike-mussina-jersey Severino, who arrived on a one-year contract worth $13 million, pitched to a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts for the Mets in which he recorded 161 strikeouts in 182 innings. It marked the first time since 2018 with the Yankees that Severino was healthy enough to start at least 30 games. I have to give a lot of credit to the Mets, the trainers, strength coach and everybody here helping, Severino said last month. I feel that even though I was healthy this year, I can still improve. Severino averaged 95.9 mph with his fastball velocity, which ranked in MLBs 79th percentile, according to Statcast. His numbers were also strong on average exit velocity, barrel percentage and ground ball percentage, among others. The Mets returning starting pitchers for next season include Kodai Senga, David Peterson and Tylor Megill. Another po sibility, Paul Blackburn, is rehabbing after undergoing a procedure to repair a cerebrospinal fluid leak he could mi s the start of spring training and the Mets have to decide whether to tender him a contract. Team officials can look in a variety of directions to fill vacancies, with familiar faces Severino, Manaea and Jose Quintana among the available arms. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (center) celebrates his solo home run against the Brewers last season with teammates Jose Quintana (left) and Luis Severino. JASON SZENES/NEW YORK POST You can build pitching staffs in very different ways, president of baseball operations David Stearns said recently at the GM Meetings. You can do it by adding starting pitching and going for the length at the front end of games. We can structure our bullpen a little differently next year where you have got more multiple-inning options that can eat up innings. But certainly we need to find some innings and part of that is going to be adding to the starting rotation. Severino pitched at least six innings in 20 of his 31 starts, improving in the second half of the season on that front. I want to compete, Severino said. I want to be on a team that wants to win the World Series and gives everything they have got every time they take the field. I have got to take that in mind. https://www.oriolesday.com/baltimore-orioles-jersey/burch-smith-jersey https://seozdirectory.com/listings13381226/buy-seth-martinez-houston-astros-jerseys-at-the-official-online-store https://directoryethics.com/listings13394125/buy-rodolfo-castro-philadelphia-phillies-jerseys-at-the-official-online-store https://directoryquick.com/listings13383751/buy-cavan-biggio-atlanta-braves-jerseys-at-the-official-online-store

The Dodgers have signed right-hander to a minor league contract, reports. Trivino was only briefly on the open market, as he elected to become a free agent just yesterday after he was designated for a signment by the Giants and cleared waivers. Trivino inked a minors deal with San Francisco during the offseason, and he locked in a $1.5MM salary from that contract after an impre sive spring performance earned Trivino a spot on the Opening Day roster. Unfortunately, the rightys Spring Training numbers didnt translate to the regular season, as Trivino posted a 5.84 ERA over 12 1/3 innings out of the Giants bullpen. His strikeout and walk rates were below average, but the largest i sue was the long ball, as Trivino gave up four home runs in his short span as a Giant. The Pro Edge Sports Management client now looks for a fresh start with the Giants arch-rivals in Los Angeles. A minor league deal is a no-risk endeavor for the Dodgers https://www.bravesgameday.com/atlanta-braves-jersey/deion-sanders-jersey in seeing what Trivino can bring, and the clubs ever-present need for healthy arms means that Trivino could see some action with the World Series champs in pretty short order. Given the Dodgers history of reviving pitchers careers, it wouldnt even be a surprise to see Trivino return to pre-injury form. Trivino posted a 3.86 ERA in 284 2/3 innings with the As and Yankees from 2018-22, with the bulk of that work coming with Oakland before the Athletics dealt him to the Bronx at the 2022 trade deadline. Trivinos penchant for walks led to some inconsistent performances, but when he was on, he was very sharp. For instance, he performed well as the Athletics closer in 2021, and he had 1.66 ERA in 21 2/3 innings with the Yankees over the remainder of the 2022 season. Unfortunately, Trivino mi sed the entirety of the 2023-24 seasons due to a Tommy John surgery, and then some elbow and shoulder sorene s that held up his rehab enough that he couldnt make it back it back onto a big league mound before 2024 was over. His early-season struggles and a minor dip in his pre-2023 velocity could well be some side effects of Trivino just working his way back into form after the long layoff, adding to the po sible upside for the Dodgers. https://www.bravesgameday.com/atlanta-braves-jersey/pierce-johnson-jersey https://brandon90.activablog.com/37458271/red-sox-select-isaiah-campbell https://zozodirectory.com/listings13386098/buy-seth-brown-oakland-athletics-jerseys-at-the-official-online-store https://andrew58.blogmazing.com/37250483/angels-to-promote-jack-kochanowicz

The Yankees finished the first half with a lo s in Baltimore that Aaron Boone called a killer. It ended a month-long stretch in which the Yankees finished the first half on an 8-18 stretch heading into the All-Star break, leaving them one game in the AL East. They resume their season in The Bronx looking to play better in the second half than they did in each of the past two seasons, when they failed to play above .500 following the break. In 2022, they overcame their 35-35 record after the break and made the ALCS before losing to Houston, but their 33-38 mark last season was part of the reason why the Yankees mi sed the playoffs. Now, they are trying to avoid a similar fate. Its a sprint when we get back, Boone said. Show up and give everything youve got. Explore More The question remains whether that will be enough. Before their first-half finale against the Orioles, the manager said his team was in a pretty good spot going into the second half and thats a result of how weve played, for the most part, to put us in the position that were in. Were in control of the script now moving forward. The second half, weve got the pen. Its in our hands and thats a result of how weve played in this first half. Lately, its been the second half thats been the bigger i sue in The Bronx and if that happens again, changes could come. Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins reacts to a walk-off win with Jordan Westburg and Colton Cowser against the New York Yankees. USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Con There figure to be some changes even before then. With le s than two weeks until the July 30 trade deadline and coming off a season in which they mi sed the playoffs and then went out and traded for Juan Soto general manager Brian Cashman and his staff undoubtedly will make some additions to the roster. Were the Yankees, Aaron Judge said before Tuesdays All-Star Game in Texas. Were going to try to put ourselves in the best position. And the front office will go out and fill the holes where https://www.diamondbacksday.com/arizona-diamondbacks-jersey/tommy-henry-jersey we need them. But weve got a great group so far, and well take any help we can get. Two years ago, the Yankees acquired Andrew Benintendi, Harrison Bader, Scott Effro s and Frankie Montas. Aaron Judge says the front office will fill the holes the Yankees have. USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Con Last season, their mediocre first half did not compel the front office to do anything significant. How do these Yankees look going into the stretch run? The starting rotation, a pleasant surprise for much of the first half despite the absence of Gerrit Cole, was the worst in baseball over the last month and the bullpen hasnt been great, with the as the deadline approaches. Miamis Tanner Scott is among the options for po sible additions, as offseason pickups Victor Gonzalez and Caleb Ferguson havent worked out. Nick Burdi and Scott Effro s could come off the IL and contribute in the second half. The infield has also been a me s, with everyone underperforming. Perhaps Rice can be at least a temporary answer at first base, but Gleyber Torres has underperformed again at second and DJ LeMahieu has been almost unplayable offensively at third. Anthony Volpe, following an encouraging rookie season, looked overwhelmed at the plate for most of the first half. Miami Marlins relief pitcher Tanner Scott is among options for the Yankees. Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports A new bat or two in the infield would not be a surprise, to go along with the expected return of Jon Berti, who played just 17 games before hitting the IL with a strained calf. He was coming off a solid season a year ago with Miami and should be productive, at least against lefties, while playing good defense at third base or second, if need be. But the Yankees figure to at least consider adding an infielder before the end of the month. New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice hits a three-run home run during the ninth inning against the Baltimore Orioles. USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Con Soto and Judge have masked many deficiencies with the rest of the roster, but the Yankees recent run of poor play showed even they need some help from the rest of the lineup. Lately, it hasnt come from Alex Verdugo, one of several members of the lineup who entered a tailspin prior to the break. Ja son Dominguez could have provided a much-needed spark to the offense, but he remains out with an oblique injury suffered at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and isnt expected back for another month. And then there are the injured veteran sluggers, Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo. Stanton provided some protection for Soto and Judge and is expected back from a strained hamstring soon, but health continues to be an i sue. Rizzo, meanwhile, didnt resemble the hitter hes been even before he fractured his arm. https://www.diamondbacksday.com/arizona-diamondbacks-jersey/zac-gallen-jersey https://brandon90.activablog.com/37458271/red-sox-select-isaiah-campbell https://zozodirectory.com/listings13386098/buy-seth-brown-oakland-athletics-jerseys-at-the-official-online-store https://andrew58.blogmazing.com/37250483/angels-to-promote-jack-kochanowicz
